Spurgeons Children's Charity

CEO

Job Reference UARADA
Closing Date Thursday 16 Sep 2021

No child should face life’s struggles alone.

Spurgeons Children’s Charity provides support to vulnerable and disadvantaged children and families across England. Our vision is to give every child the opportunity of a hope-filled life.

Our services ensure vulnerable children and families can access the help they need for a better future. We support them to cope with their difficulties and provide them with resources and support to find long lasting solutions to challenging problems. We do this by using our expertise and experience to deliver care and support through:
• Community based services such as children and family centres, supporting Young Carers and working in prisons
• School counselling and support

As part of our new strategy we are planning to re-enter the Children’s Homes market. We also aim to promote the participation of children, young people and their families, and seek to faithfully represent their voice at a local and national level.

We need an exceptional leader who can inspire our colleagues and challenge our ways of working to become more agile and innovative, enabling us to remain relevant and financially secure for our next chapter. There are many exciting challenges facing the new CEO from day 1, including, maximising the potential from the Fegans acquisition, significantly increasing our voluntary income, entering new markets such as children’s homes and ultimately ensuring we implement our new strategy and grow our impact. This role is for an ambitious leader who is up for the challenge and wants to make a difference to the lives of thousands of children. You will be supported by a great team who are equally as passionate and committed as you.

We were founded with Christian values, and these continually encourage us to seek to make a difference in today’s world; it is important that our new CEO has an alignment to Spurgeons’ faith motivation and an ability to provide a confident and sensitive Christian lead to the organisation.

Reflecting the diverse communities that Spurgeons Children’s Charity is proud to support, we are committed to finding a CEO who is dedicated to furthering diversity and inclusion within the charity. We actively and warmly encourage applications therefore from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences.

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of the children and young people we serve. This post is subject to necessary safeguarding and other checks including an appropriate level DBS disclosure.
