The Office of Comptroller and Auditor General (the Office) is responsible for public audit in Jersey, providing robust and independent assurance to the States Assembly. The Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) discharges his/ her functions through the Jersey Audit Office.
Following a fundamental redesign of the operation of Jersey’s public services, and against the backdrop of an uncertain political and economic climate, the new C&G will lead the Jersey Audit Office through an unprecedented period in public life in Jersey. The C&AG alone decides how they will perform their functions, they will prepare a series of reports to the States Assembly on internal control, corporate governance and value for money across the public sector. They will also secure that an audit of the States’ annual accounts is undertaken, appoint auditors to undertake the audit of the accounts of other States entities, and oversee the development, direction, management and conduct of the Office.

Adept at providing robust assurance at the highest levels, they will have a strong track record of working and influencing in a complex and political environment. They will be a strong relationship builder, not only with government and other external stakeholders but also internally. They will be impartial, independent, professional and of the highest integrity.
The C&AG does not need to be based in Jersey, and the total time commitment is expected to be in the region of 145 days per annum, around 50-60 days of which will be on the island.
