Chief Executive

Job Reference USMT
Closing Date Thursday 17 Jan 2019

The Children’s Society’s vision is for a country where children are free from disadvantage.

This is why we are committed to disrupting the cycle of disadvantage, to free the next generation from the social problems of today, where some young people don’t feel safe,
loved or able to cope. We do this by rooting our work in the lived experience of young people, to understand the challenges they face every day and to work with them to develop
sustainable solutions.

We know there are no simple answers to tackling the complex problems some young people face – such as exploitation and mental health challenges – which is why we work with politicians, policy makers, young people and other organisations, to bring people together to tackle these important issues.

This partnership approach is at the heart of our work and we are becoming increasingly known for our cutting edge and innovative solutions. We develop our approach using insights drawn from our well-respected research and policy work, and learnings from our powerful direct work supporting young people through life’s hardest challenges.
Following the appointment of Matthew Reed as Chief Executive of Marie Curie, we are now recruiting a new Chief Executive to lead The Children’s Society in the next chapter of its
critical mission.

We seek a Chief Executive who is ambitious for the future, a strategic leader who shares our vision. We are looking for someone who has integrity, resilience and great energy to work with the Board, our staff, volunteers and – critically – the children and families we support. The successful candidate will be an experienced and inspirational leader with a passion for improving the lives of our future generations – someone with a strong track record of delivering first class results in a large, complex organisation.

The Children’s Society recognises the enormous benefits and social justice imperatives of diversity. We actively and warmly encourage applications therefore from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences.
