The UK’s pioneering biomedical science research institute, the Francis Crick Institute (The Crick), is seeking an outstanding person to take on the newly created role of Head of Strategic Partnerships. Based in King’s Cross St Pancras, this is an exciting opportunity to help further the vital work of a world-renowned institute.
The Francis Crick Institute is a partnership between Cancer Research UK, the Medical Research Council, the Wellcome Trust, UCL (University College London), Imperial College London and King’s College London. It is a registered charity with a purpose to conduct biomedical research into all aspects of human health and disease. It promotes connections between researchers and disciplines and between academic institutions, healthcare organisations and businesses.
The Head of Strategic Partnerships will be responsibility for driving successful grant applications and building strategic partnerships across the biomedical science landscape. They will work closely with The Crick’s senior leaders, both scientific and functional, to develop funding strategies that will contribute to the sustainability of The Crick’s mandate. It is expected that this person will identify new opportunities for funding and/or collaboration, nationally and internationally, as well as work to deliver high-quality funding applications and networking campaigns.
The Crick is a highly complex, multi-faceted organisation which, therefore, requires a Head of Strategic Partnerships intellectually and professionally capable of managing multiple, intricate, initiatives at once. The successful candidate will be excellent communicator, with a compelling track-record of success within a funding environment, ideally relating to biomedical research. It is expected that the appointed candidate will have experience of grant proposal development with evidence of academic or policy writing in their background. In addition to their technical skills, the appointed candidate will have a clear commitment to The Crick’s values of boldness, imagination, openness, dynamism and collegiality.
