Managing Director

Job Reference ZANAMB
Closing Date Monday 13 Sep 2021

UCLPartners brings together more than 40 world-leading research centres, NHS bodies, commercial organisations, local authorities and the third sector to effect change that is only possible through collaboration and a joined-up vision for our health and care system. To push forward this agenda, UCLPartners is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to take on the critical leadership role of Managing Director.

Six national research and innovation designations and commissions fall within the UCLPartners academic health science partnership and it is the role of the Managing Director to meet these ambitions, translating research and innovation into practice at scale and pace to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals living in our health system and beyond. The Managing Director works closely with the leaders of the innovation and research designations and commissions and the partner NHS trust CEOs to set a strategy to improve care for the more than 6 million people that access health and care in our partnership. The role requires a precise focus on population level interventions, developing a vision that binds every provider of health and care across the partnership.

A visible and dynamic leader, the ideal candidate will have experience as a senior executive of a complex, professionally based organisation in the health and social care, voluntary, academia or medical research sectors. This experience will be supported by a strong track record in translating research and innovation into practice at scale, bringing a clear understanding of how to bring partners along on this journey. Entrepreneurial in approach, the candidate will generate income to an increasingly diverse portfolio to support and enable partnership working. An outstanding communicator and relationship builder, the incoming Managing Director will be an experienced senior executive with a natural authority and inclusive approach. Candidates will bring a demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion, and to the wider values and beliefs for which UCLPartners stand.
