Young Epilepsy exists to create a society where children and young people with epilepsy are enabled to thrive and fulfil their potential. A society in which their voices are respected and their ambitions realised.
Founded in 1897, we are incredibly proud of our long history of working to improve the lives of children and young people with epilepsy. We work tirelessly with children, parents and professionals to be the voice and the champion of childhood epilepsy at a national level. With more than 112,000 young people across the UK living with the condition, we work actively to find the right solutions to address the challenges faced by children with epilepsy and their families, and to transform lives. As part of our mission we provide excellent specialist education, residential and health services to around 200 young people at our 68 acre rural campus in Lingfield in Surrey. Young Epilepsy are at the forefront of research into epilepsy, provide expert information, training and advice to professionals and families, and influence policy and thought around epilepsy to remove stigma and discrimination.
We are now seeking outstanding candidates to join the charity’s Board of Trustees. Candidates will bring an understanding of governance and the skills, intellect and outlook to be an effective member of a high calibre board. In particular candidates are sought with experience at a senior level in the education sector preferably with knowledge of special schools and the education regulation sector. We also seek senior individuals with significant commercial and financial experience, who will bring an understanding of risk and investment.
These newly appointed Trustees will be passionate about the part they will play in the improvement of epilepsy support for children and young people, and will bring energy and ambition to a charity deeply dedicated to its cause.
