Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation

Charities’ Committee Members

Job Reference AAGTB
Closing Date Monday 19 Feb 2024

At Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, our mission is clear – to build the foundations of a healthier society.

As an independent foundation, we invest, partner, engage and influence and work with our communities, partners, and hospitals, to tackle health challenges from many angles and use our assets to transform lives.  We take a portfolio approach, driving impact in different ways: through our endowment to invest in a healthier society, our NHS charities (Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity, Guy’s Cancer Charity, and Evelina London Children’s Charity) and programmatic work through Impact on Urban Health.

Our NHS charities are core to what we do; in helping Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to provide exceptional healthcare through supporting a world-class environment for patients and staff at our hospitals and community sites. We do this through a mix of philanthropic support, managing all donations and funding the costs related to fundraising and administration to ensure 100% of donated funds go towards helping patients and staff.

In April 2023, a new four-year Charities’ Strategy was launched with an ambition to raise £70 million to further maximise the funds we provide to deliver better, fairer healthcare – beyond what the NHS can provide.

We are now looking for three Members to join the Charities’ Committee, which oversees our work as the charity for Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to ensure we maximise the impact of our funding. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our work, ensuring that we can continue to deliver funding that saves and transforms countless lives of patients, staff, their families and the loved ones of those impacted by our work.

We are looking for individuals who bring experience working collaboratively within a committee or board structure, with experience working with diverse communities and overseeing the development and delivery of complex strategies. We are particularly keen to attract individuals with experience in one of the three following areas:

  • High value fundraising experience gained in an executive role; or
  • Medical research, with a strong understanding of the research funding landscape; or
  • Brand and marketing experience gained in an executive role.

We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where all belong. We therefore encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates.
