The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic is central to Liverpool’s cultural offering as the largest music organisation in the city. With a mission to enhance and transform lives through music, Liverpool Philharmonic incorporates the critically acclaimed Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the UK’s oldest orchestra. There is an extensive programme of participative work with young people and others across the community, and the presentation of around 400 concerts and events a year at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Inclusivity and relevance are cornerstones of Liverpool Philharmonic, and it is vital that the organisation reflects the communities it serves, not only internally, but also through the artists it works with, its audiences and the participants of its learning programmes.

The Chair of the Board is now looking to appoint up to four Trustees this year, covering specific areas of expertise as indicated below:

  • Political policy, and advocacy
  • Legal expertise
  • Music and arts education, policy, and provision
  • Knowledge of the classical and non-classical music sectors across genres and cultures
  • Fundraising – both expertise and direct ability to support our fundraising efforts through advocacy to potential donors/sponsors etc
  • Knowledge of and connections with Liverpool and its communities
  • New media and digital expertise

Ideal candidates for the role of Trustee will bring a strong and visible passion for the arts and its ability to change lives, alongside a commitment to Liverpool Philharmonic’s values and culture of inclusivity and widening access. The Trustees will play a critical role in the future of Liverpool Philharmonic, providing contribution and constructive challenge and supporting the Executive Team in determining future strategic objectives. Candidates will be senior leaders able to contribute at Board level with confidence and credibility. They will have a clear understanding of change management, both cultural change and engagement; strong interpersonal, networking and relationship building abilities are important.
