The Governing Body of St Aloysius’ College, Glasgow, is seeking an exceptional individual to become Head of the College. This is a great opportunity to lead one of Scotland’s top independent schools which also has a very significant place in the history of Catholic Scotland.

An independent co-educational school for pupils aged 3-18 in the heart of Glasgow, the school has a strong academic reputation and curriculum centred around the individual, aiming to help every child discover the confidence and motivation to achieve great things on their journey to becoming men and women for others. Founded in 1859 the Jesuit identity is central to life at St Aloysius’ and the next Head of St Aloysius’ is expected, with the support of the Governing Body, to lead the school in living out its Jesuit identity and mission

The new Head will have the opportunity to shape and implement a new long-term vision for the development of the school that maintains the values and aspirations of St Aloysius’ and creates a strong, sustainable future for the school. We are looking for an inspirational, dynamic and empathetic leader who can continue to develop a unique learning experience, be willing to drive through decisions and build on our successes, whilst ensuring that the school community, pupils and staff continue to flourish. They will be a practising Catholic and supportive of the school’s Jesuit identity with its vision of furthering “improvement in living and learning for the great glory of God and the common good.”

The new Head must have proven successful leadership experience as a Head or Deputy. The successful candidate will bring an understanding and knowledge of Catholic and Jesuit educational traditions and a passion for collaboration and embodiment of the Catholic faith. Above all, they will be an enthusiastic, energetic leader with high integrity, honesty and compassion.

The expected start date for the new Head is August 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, depending on the candidates’ notice period.
