Saxton Bampfylde is proud to be part of OnBoard, a new non-profit mentoring programme designed to support talented individuals from disadvantaged and non-traditional backgrounds as they start their journeys to becoming Board members.
The OnBoard programme is open to those individuals currently in the first ten years of their career who are considering taking on roles on boards. It provides personal development support by offering a series of workshops, advice around creating and making the most of opportunities to join boards, plus access to a network of mentors and coaches. Each participant will be matched with two mentors: a current board member with at least 3 years’ experience and from a diverse pool of backgrounds, and someone in the recruitment industry who has experience of recruiting to board and other governance positions.
A group of Saxton Bampfylde leadership consultants will be paired as mentors to help provide mentees with guidance on how to find NED opportunities and stepping up into board level roles. They will also share advice across a range of topics, including: CV writing, networking, interview preparation, information on the content/structure of appointment processes and confidence building.
Six of the inaugural cohort of 12 participants have already been paired with Saxton Bampfylde mentors and have taken part in the first of a series of group workshops. The programme aims to train 5 cohorts in its first year and Saxton Bampfylde is delighted to have a further mentors signed up to support the next group of participants.
